Adjunct Faculty and Corporate & Continuing Education Positions

 Position  Qualifications
Online Adjunct Teaching

A master's degree in the appropriate discipline is required to teach the following online courses:

  • Accounting
  • Anthropology
  • Business
  • History
  • Sociology
Accounting Able to teach a range of daytime or evening sections of Accounting courses including Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and other courses.  Required:  Master's degree in Accounting (or related area with significant course work in Accounting) from an accredited college or university and teaching experience at the collegel level.  Applicants will be asked to do a teaching scenario.
Advanced Manufacturing Able to teach Advanced Manufacturing course(s) focused on CNC and/or manual machining.  Ability to provide and teach manufacturing skills, theory, and operation of equipment in a structured lecture and lab environment.  A minimum of two (2) years of industry or instructional experience is required.  Teaching experience is preferred.
Anatomy and Physiology Able to teach anatomy and physiology as preparation for nursing and other health professions.  Day or evening classes available.  Master’s degree in biology or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred

Anthropology

Able to teach one or more of the following: Survey of Anthropology, Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Indians of North America, and Northwest Coast Indians. Master's degree in anthropology or archaeology from an accredited college or university required; teaching experience at the college level preferred.
Art Ability to teach Beginning Digital Photography:  Master's degree of Art or related area from an accredit college or university and teaching experience at the college level.
ASL Able to teach first year ASL: 121, 122, and 123-. Master's degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, or a related field from an accredited college or university and teaching experience at the college level required. Day or evening classes available fall quarter 2017. Experience teaching Signing Naturally Units 1-6 and 7-12.
Automotive Able to teach and guide students in diagnosis and repair of passenger car and light trucks in both lecture and lab settings.  ASE certification in Fuel and Emissions, Drivability, Advanced Chassis Electrical, HVAC Systems and Manual and Automatic Transmissions.  Preferred: Classes will be in the evening.  Required Qualifications:  Recent work experience in the industry.  Must be able to obtain ASE master certification within 1 year of hire.

Biology

Able to teach general biology, human biology, and/or microbiology. Day or evening classes available.  Master’s degree in biology or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.

Botany

Able to teach introductory botany or related content such as plant ecology, plant taxonomy, applied plant biology.  Day, evening and/or online classes available.  Master’s degree in botany, biology or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
Business Ability to teach introductory Business courses. Required: A master's degree in Business or related area from an accredited college or university. Desired: Experience teaching in a community college setting. Day or evening sections possible.
Chemistry Ability to teach chemistry for non-majors (CHEM& 110) and/or introductory chemistry for the health sciences (CHEM& 121).  Master's degree in chemistry or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
CIS-Computer Programming Ability to teach one or more of the following: HTML + JavaScript, C#, Java, database design/SQL. Many other topics could potentially be useful - see current computer programming degree for class list. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or two years of professional experience. Industry experience, technical education experience, or a mix of the two totaling two years can meet the professional experience requirement.

The Lacey Corporate and Continuing Education Center is looking for professionals to teach daytime classes aimed at business and industry training. 

Computer Information Systems-Programming
Computer programming instructor with the experience to teach a variety of courses such as C# programming, .Net web application development, programming logic, requirements analysis, system/application testing and quality and version control. Desirable skills would include knowledge of JAVA, JavaScript, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Visual Basic, and Microsoft Access.

Geographic Information Systems
Instructor with the experience to teach courses in the Geographic Information Systems Certificate Series.   Experience knowledge to delivery understanding in business and government geospatial intelligence and critical thinking skills. 

Graphic Designer
Graphic designer instructor with experience and knowledge in Adobe CS6 Creative suite emphasizing on InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat.  Ability to instruct classes that cover design principles, user-centered design, usability and web design principles.

Enhancing Student Success

Able to teach an Enhancing Student Success course to diverse groups of students. This course emphasizes reflective learning and the evaluation and application of proven success strategies and skills. Master’s degree required, preferably in Education, Psychology, Leadership, Sociology or a related field. Experience with OnCourse or similar pedagogy is preferred.

Environmental Science Able to teach introductory topics in environmental science including biodiversity, ecology, and the impact of humans on the environment.  Day, evening, and online classes available.  Master’s degree in environmental science or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
ESL Able to teach lower level evening English as a Second Language.  Master's degree in the field of English as a Second Language, OR closely related field with coursework in language teaching methodology and language acquisition theories is required.
FEST Able to teach Fire Emergency Services Technology (FEST) course focused on hazardous materials. Specifically, SPSCC is looking for someone to teach FEST 117 (Hazardous Materials Chemistry) in Fall Quarter 2017 which runs from September 18, 2017 through December 12, 2017.  The course is scheduled to be taught on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30am to 9:45am.  This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely respond to and manage the defensive operations involved in a chemical emergency, provides basic chemistry relating to the categories of hazardous materials including recognition, identification, reactivity, and health hazards encountered by emergency services.  Prepares students for the IFSAC Hazardous materials operations certification exam.  IFSAC HAZMAT Operations certificate or equivalent certificate and experience are preferred.  Teaching experience is also preferred.
German Able to teach first year German within its cultural context: 121, 122 and 123 - Master's Degree in German or related field from an accredited college or university and teaching experience at the college level required.  Native or near-native fluency in German and English is required. Evening class available Fall 2017. 
Librarian Able to treach information literacy in the classroom and serve as a reference librarian.  Master's degree in Library Science required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
Mathematics The college seeks to expand its pool of adjunct instructors in college level mathematics.  Community college teaching experience preferred.  Master’s degree in mathematics or related field required for college-level mathematics.
Mathematics Pre-College The college seeks to expand its pool of adjunct instructors in the pre-college level.  Community college teaching experience preferred.  Bachelors degree in mathematics or related field required for teaching Pre-college-level mathematics.
 Medical Assisting:
Coding
Ability to teach diagnostic and/or procedural coding.  Knowledge of ICD-10 implementation, coding rules and regulations, and third-party reimbursement policies is essential.  Requires current professional certification and two years of recent experience (in the field or in teaching this content).  Associate’s degree and teaching experience preferred.

Medical Assisting:
Pharmacology

Ability to teach pharmacology to medical assisting students.  Must have current knowledge of pharmacology, preferably through a current or recent position dealing with medications for outpatients or through specific study of pharmacology.  Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience preferred.
 Nursing We are hiring for nursing adjuncts. Must have ability to provide instruction in clinical and/or laboratory nursing courses in 1st or 2nd year of nursing program. Evaluate student learning in the laboratory and/or clinical setting. Adhere to college and department policies and procedures. Serve as a role model to nursing students in a professional manner at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in the clinical subject area taught. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with a major in nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing with a masters in a related field from an accredited college or university with experience as a mentor or preceptor to nurses or nursing students.
Nutrition Able to teach nutrition as a non-lab, general education science course.  Day, evening, and online classes available.  Master’s degree in nutrition, biology or related field is required; college-level teaching experience and online teaching experience are preferred
Paralegal Able to teach one or more of the following: Business Law, Real Estate and Property Law, Estate Planning, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Civil Litigation, Civil/Criminal/Domestic Law. A Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
Physics Able to teach general physics in day or evening classes.  Master’s degree in physics or related field is required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.
Psychology Ability to teach a range of Psychology courses – including General Psychology, Social Psychology, Lifespan Psychology, Psychology of Human Relations,  Abnormal Psychology, Human Sexuality, and Personality Theories. Courses typically meet four to five days per week.  Applicants will be asked to do a teaching scenario.
