Registering for Running Start

Online registration

  1. Look at the current Class Schedule to select courses. Enter the courses you selected on your Running Start Enrollment Verification Form.
  2. Discuss courses with your high school counselor to make sure they will meet graduation requirements. Your counselor can sign your completed Running Start Enrollment Verification Form, or sign after you have registered. Your counselor knows that changes may be needed based on course availability.
  3. After you understand what to expect from college course registration, go to the New Student Advising page to access the online New Student Advising & Registration classroom.  You will complete the class (takes about an hour) and then complete a quiz. Once we receive the quiz results, we will send you an email confirmation with your registration information.
  4. See Important Dates to find out when registration begins. This is the earliest you can sign up for classes. Use the resources from the online orientation and confirmation email to register for your courses.
  5. Once you have registered, turn in your signed Running Start verification form. If your counselor would not sign off before registration, print a copy of your schedule to take in and show them so they will sign. All Running Start applications are turned in to building 22, Enrollment Services at the One Stop counter or at the Advising Center. If you do not turn in a signed Running Start verification form by the due date, you will be dropped from your classes.
  6. Pay your fees and/or tuition. All Running Start students must pay some fees by the tuition due date. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch at your high school, you can fill out and turn in the fee waiver application to get your fees waived.

In-person registration

1. Look at the current class schedule to start selecting courses. The class schedule for the upcoming quarter goes online during the second week of the current quarter. Write the courses you want to sign up for on your Running Start verification form.

2. Discuss courses with your high school counselor to make sure they will meet graduation requirements. If you have completed it, your counselor can sign your Running Start verification form, or they can wait until you have registered to sign off. Your counselor knows that you may need to make changes based on course availability.

3. Come to a 2-hour New Student Advising & Registration Session. These sessions are called "Registration Labs." The first hour is a formal presentation; the second hour is where you will actually register for classes. While we encourage parental support, please keep in mind that our space is very limited and parents will not be permitted in the advising lab during the session. If your high school counselor signed your Running Start application, you will turn it in to us after this session. If they have not yet signed, you must take it and a copy of your schedule back to your counselor and get their signature. Then you must return your application to building 22, Enrollment Services, at the One Stop counter.

4. Pay your fees and/or tuition. All Running Start students must pay some fees by the tuition due date. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch at your high school, you can fill out and turn in the fee waiver application to get your fees waived.

You can also ask your high school to fax or mail in your verification form. Be sure to call us to confirm that we have received all of your information. We will NOT notify you if you are missing information.
