Seattle's Whim W'Him comes to SPSCC stage

SPSCC and Ballet Northwest are proud to present the next performance in the SPSCC Artist & Lecture series, Seattle contemporary dance company Whim W’Him.  Whim W'Him has been wowing audiences with innovative choreography and dance since 2009. The group will perform one of their newest programs, SENSATION, featuring new contemporary dance works from the 2016 Princess Grace Award Choreography winner Penny Saunders, New York City-based Larry Keigwin, and Whim W'Him's artistic director, Olivier Wevers.

Students honored with scholarships at annual MLK banquet

Three students from South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) were awarded scholarships on Saturday evening at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet.  Students Bryan Hooper and Alex Bledsoe were honored by the Thurston Group of Washington State for their academic success, community service, and extra-curricular activities that align with the values of the Thurston Group.  Student Francisco Tamayo, Jr. was awarded by Gateway Rotary Club for his service in diversity and inclusivity.

It’s not overstatement that our economy depends on smart decisions. This is no truer than with higher education, which plays a key role in training workers for the employment fields that don’t have enough newly qualified people to fill expected openings.

Hometown Hero Program connects community with student athletes

Just months after its best season in school history, Clipper Men’s Basketball launches a new program to root student athletes in the Thurston County community.  Partnering with businesses and members of the community, Clipper Athletics anticipates that the Hometown Hero Program will help student athletes from outside the Thurston area make local relationships that encourage athletic and academic success.
