Summer financial aid awards to disburse by July 5

Financial aid awards for summer quarter at South Puget Sound Community College will be disbursed by July 5, 2017, due to federal disbursement requirements and the delay in the approval of the budget by the Washington State Legislature.

In order to accommodate students receiving summer aid, the College is committed to not dropping students from classes for non-payment as we finalize student accounts.

What does this mean for students receiving financial aid?

While students will see pending financial aid payments in the mySPSCC Portal, aid will not officially be applied until July 5, 2017. Previously, financial aid would be paid by the tuition due date, making it easier for students to pay the correct remaining tuition

Students receiving aid will not be dropped.

To accommodate students under these unique circumstances, students with financial aid awards will not be dropped from classes for non-payment prior to July 13, 2017.  After financial aid is disbursed on July 5, 2017, students will have until July 13, 2017, to pay the remainder of their tuition.  Financial aid refunds will be processed through BankMobile on July 3, 2017, although some students may experience a delay in available funds through their financial institution due to the Fourth of July holiday.  Students are encouraged to purchase books and supplies before classes begin.

As a result of budget delays by the Washington State Legislature, students receiving Washington State Need Grant and Washington College Bound scholarship funds will see a delay in awards. Students will receive an updated award letter once the state budget has been released. Funds will be disbursed as made available.
